Mangfallpark Rosenheim - 7a Biennal 2012

Robel Steffan, Joachim Swillus

Relocating industry from the uninhabited
plain tracts of the Inn and Mangfall rivers
near the city has allowed the city of Rosenheim
to extend its urban development
down to the rivers’ banks. The Landesgartenschau
(State Garden Show) 2010 initiated
these measures.

In the Mangfallpark, a system of footbridges
continues the urban development axes,
crossing the waterway and leading directly
down to the fluvial topography of the Inn.
These footbridges are hybrid objects, forming
the promenade as well as serving as
lookout points, bridges and seats.

Play areas and flower gardens are laid out
along the watercourses. In the south of the
Mangfallpark, the Hammerbach has been
converted into a children’s kajaking course.
Terraced lawns frame the city’s edge at the
confluence of the Inn and Mangfall rivers.
