Sofia Airport Center (SAC) is an international-standard working environment in a landscaped business park setting. It is the first LEED certified office development in Bulgaria. The business complex incorporates environmentally friendly materials with state-of-the-art technologies to reduce operating costs as much as 30% and provide a comfortable, healthy environment for employees.
The construction of Sofia Airport Center is executed stepwise. When completed the complex will represent a €350 mln investment.
Phase I has been continued with the first office building part of the future office center – office building A2 - which was completed in October 2012. The building was awarded best in two categories “Green Buildings” and “Public buildings with business functions” in the national contest “Building of the Year 2012”.
The site is an outdoor showcase, providing a 5,000 sq. m park environment of lush landscaping and winter gardens with water fountains and outdoor seating, as well as open recreational space, which includes walking trails and a central lake. Consistent with sustainable development trends there is an extensive roof garden at the top of the building. The investment for construction of park area in Phase I is more than €500000.
SAC is located at industrial area in Sofia, near to the Sofia airport. In this area there is no other park for living nearby residents. Now the park of SAC is with free access for everyone to visit and enjoy it.
Prague-based architect ’’Cigler Marani’’ are the lead architects of the general project. The general landscaping plan was modified and adapted for local specific condition of the area by the design team of the Bulgarian company ''Landscape Design Studio’’ (LDS). From March to October 2012 according to the revised landscaping plan, LDS's construction team created the park area of SAC. From November 2012, LDS is responsible of the park area maintenance.
