RCR Arquitectes are named Officiers des Arts et des Lettres in France

The Catalan architecture practice RCR Arquitectes has been distinguished with the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, an honorary decoration that has been awarded by the French Ministry of Culture since the mid-1950s.

The architects were named as Officiers—the second highest decoration in the Order—after fulfilling the requirement of being Chevaliers for five years. The distinction was awarded on Thursday, 4 October, by Françoise Nyssen, the French Republic’s Minister for Culture.

Miàs Arquitectes wins the tender to renovate Passeig de la Indústria and Plaça de l’Ajuntament in Banyoles

Miàs Arquitectes, run by architect Josep Miàs, will be responsible for designing the renovation of Passeig de la Indústria and the Plaça de l’Ajuntament in Banyoles. The proposal presented by the Banyoles-based team of architects won the tender put out by the Town Council and envisages a more pedestrianised street to improve the connection with the town's Old Quarter.

Architect Oriol Bohigas receives Barcelona's Gold Medal

Barcelona architect Oriol Bohigas has been awarded the city’s Gold Medal, presented by Mayoress Ada Colau. The prize-giving ceremony was held on 25 October in Barcelona City Hall's Saló de Cent hall, and the winning architect was accompanied by his wife, Beth Galí, and their children Maria, Josep, Pere and Glòria Bohigas.

Water heritage: the key theme of the 41st AADIPA Heritage Course

On 13 December, the 41st International Course on Interventions in Architectural Heritage begins, organised by the Association of Architects for the Defence and Intervention of Architectural Heritage (AADIPA) of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia.

This year, the theme of the seminars, which take place from 13 to 16 December in the COAC’s Auditorium, is 'Camins d'aigua: restauració i ús del patrimoni hidràulic' (Waterways: the restoration and use of our water heritage).

¡No te lo pierdas! Noviembre 2018

El #Nothoperdis se resiste a la llegada del frío y los días cortos proponiéndote una serie de actos y exposiciones por el territorio.

Empezamos en la Garrotxa. El 10 de noviembre se celebrará el festival Lluèrnia en Olot, donde diversos arquitectos, artistas y diseñadores proponen instalaciones que tienen la luz como tema principal. El evento es anual y ya se ha convertido en todo un referente.

Los arquitectos, claves en el impulso de la Agenda 2030 en Cataluña y España

Desde el año 2016, la Agenda 2030 determina la hoja de ruta de las Naciones Unidas que, hasta el año 2030, buscan avanzar hacia un modelo global de desarrollo sostenible. Este marco de actuaciones se concreta con los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), que incorporan metas e indicadores que evalúan la consecución de los objetivos propuestos.
