Cambios temporales en el servicio de la Biblioteca del COAC

Con motivo de las obras de rehabilitación de la fachada del COAC, y a causa del traslado de oficinas internas al edificio de Carrer Arcs, la Biblioteca de Plaça Nova verá limitados temporalmente sus puntos de lectura.
Con el objetivo de facilitar el uso de la Biblioteca durante los meses en que el espacio se verá reducido, será necesario a partir de ahora reservar con antelación los puntos de lectura. La reserva se podrá realizar presencialmente, telefónicamente o por correo electrónico.
Para facilitar la consulta del fondo, se adaptarán las condiciones habituales de préstamo a las necesidades de los usuarios.

'Atlas of Political Clichés', the new issue of Quaderns, available for St George's Day

A new issue of the journal Quaderns d'Arquitectura i Urbanisme will be available for Sant Jordi (St George's Day) this year. It is a double issue (266-267) which, under the heading 'Atles de clixés polítics' [Atlas of Political Clichés], explores some of the topics raised in the previous issue, 'Casa i contradicció' [House and Contradiction].
'Atlas of Political Clichés' analyses the relationship between politics and public spaces and reflects on issues such as: what role should architects play in the new determination for regeneration that affects both architecture and public space? What are the limits—political, factual and legal—of architecture and how can the rules of the game be redefined? What is architecture’s true political capacity?

Información para los Certificados de eficiencia energética de proyectos registrados antes del 14.01.2016

Tal y como se informó anteriormente, a principios de 2016 los programas informáticos para la certificación energética fueron modificados para adaptarlos a los últimos cambios normativos (actualización del DB HE, Reglamento de Instalaciones Térmicas, nuevos coeficientes de paso de la energía, etc). El cambio de herramientas informáticas podía comportar, en algunos casos, la modificación de la calificación energética de un edificio solo por el hecho de haber utilizado estas nuevas herramientas de cálculo.
Para la certificación energética de obra nueva, y ante las incertezas que suponía un posible cambio de calificación entre los Certificados en fase de proyecto y de obra acabada, el COAC transmitió al CSCAE sus inquietudes por las repercusiones legales que se pudieran derivar de estas modificaciones (relaciones contractuales existentes, información en la documentación del proyecto, etc) haciendo énfasis en la necesidad de que hubiera las garantías legales necesarias para todos los agentes implicados.
Este agosto el Ministerio publicó una nueva nota informativa indicando que, los edificios de nueva construcción en los que la certificación de eficiencia energética del proyecto se haya realizado con el procedimiento antiguo (programas Calener VYP, Calener GT o CERMA) y registrado con anterioridad al 14 de enero de 2016, se podrá realizar el Certificado de eficiencia energética del edificio acabado con el mismo procedimiento que el del proyecto, de manera que permita garantizar que no se produzcan cambios en la calificación debidos a las modificaciones de los programas que puedan suponer un perjuicio para los agentes implicados.
La misma nota indica que esta opción se deberá llevar a cabo siguiendo las instrucciones que determine el organismo competente del registro de certificados energéticos, que en Catalunya es el ICAEN (Institut Català d’Energia). En este sentido el ICAEN ha publicado en su web información sobre cómo actuar en los casos mencionados. Los aspectos más destacados son:
· Habrá que justificar que hay un perjuicio, al cambiar la versión de la herramienta, entre el edificio en fase de proyecto y el edificio acabado (por ejemplo, por empeoramiento de la calificación energética del edificio).
· Si se utilizan las versiones anteriores del programa, que no generan los archivos xml necesarios para el Registro, habrá que rellenar manualmente los campos de un archivo xml simplificado, mediante la herramienta VISOR XML, que se puede descargar en la web del Código Técnico.
· Para los edificios certificados con Calener GT, es especialmente recomendable utilizar la misma versión del programa que la utilizada en proyecte, pues se han detectado errores a la hora de hacer la actualización del archivo antiguo a la nueva versión de la herramienta.

Award-winning projects at the 19th edition of the Architectural Awards of Girona

Award-winning projects at the 19th edition of the Architectural Awards of the Counties of Girona On 3 June 2016, the Girona branch of the Architects' Association held the award-giving ceremony for the 19th edition of the Architectural Awards of the Counties of Girona.
The event was attended by Agustí Serra, Director-General for Territorial and Urban Planning of the Government of Catalonia; Narcís Reverendo, President of the Girona branch of the COAC; Marta Madrenas, Mayor of Girona; Fermí Santamaria, Vice-president of Girona Provincial Council; and the architect Claudi Aguiló, representing this year's jury, chaired by the architect Andrew Groarke, who was unable to attend.
The event included the opening of the exhibition which brings together this year's selected projects in a set-up which uses three rolls of fabric deployed using metal carousels spread in rows throughout the entire exhibition room. The architectural projects are found amongst the hanging fabric—sketches, plans, images and notes—presented one behind the other, just like the outlines of the thousand conceivable architectural plans that the architect commits to paper. The exhibition was curated by the Col·lectiu La Mosca, created in 2012 to disseminate art and architecture and bring it closer to society, as well as encouraging architectural sensitivity and promoting social action to improve the quality of people's lives.
Just as in previous editions, the Architectural Awards of the Counties of Girona were made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of a variety of public bodies and private companies. As its main sponsors, this year's edition relied on the support Girona Provincial Council and Technal and Griesser; as sponsors, Ascensors Serra, Arcadi Pla SA, Itisa, El Punt Avui, iGuzzini, Diari de Girona, Cervera Global and the HNA (National Brotherhood of Architects); and as collaborators, Hotel Ciutat de Girona, LB Leopold Bautista SL Bulthaup Girona, Caves Llopart, and La Selva.
AWARD WINNERS 2016
In this, the nineteenth edition, the jury selected a total of 16 projects. The award in the 'Architecture' category went to 'Renovation of farmhouse in El Baix Empordà', by the practice Arquitectura-G (Jonathan Arnabat, Jordi Ayala-Bril, Aitor Fuentes and Igor Urdampilleta), and a mention was given to 'Reception Building at the Empúries Archaeological Museum', a project by Fuses-Viader Arquitectes. In the 'Outdoor Spaces' category, the jury chose the project 'Lluna Plena in Olot', by Eduard Callís and Guillem Moliner. No award was given for the 'Temporary Spaces' category.
As for the Jury Opinion Award, given by professionals from the world of cultural communication and management, architecture critics and professionals linked to the worlds of business and research, it went to 'Reception Building at the Empúries Archaeological Museum', by Fuses-Viader Arquitectes. The intention of this award is to reinforce the perception of architecture as culture and, in turn, influence the idea of architecture as a wide-ranging activity capable of capturing public interest.
ARCHITECTURE AS A CULTURAL ASSET
One of the noteworthy functions of the Architects' Association is to demonstrate the professional task undertaken by architects in disseminating the values of architecture in the context of society, something exemplified in their entirety by the Architectural Awards of the Counties of Girona. They have been held since 1997, and serve as a benchmark for architectural activity in the region. After nineteen years, they are seen as a point of reference for professionals in the worlds of architecture and construction.
