On 12 March 2024, the European Parliament approved the new version of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). It is a regulation that will contribute to the decarbonization of the sector and will generate a wave of renovations of the building stock that will improve its quality, safety and accessibility.
The text provides a series of very valuable tools - such as the digital register, the renovation passport or the new European energy certification - that will help architecture professionals to change the way in which buildings are designed and built, as well as to reconsider the maintenance and management of buildings throughout their life cycle.
