Exposició: "El Rec Comtal. Passat, present i futur"

Exposició: "El Rec Comtal. Passat, present i futur"

All of us dream about cities that are more sustainable, high-tech, healthy and people-friendly, but the current state of our public and private spaces falls a long way short of meeting the needs of present and future generations.

For this reason, in response to the question How can urban renewal improve people’s lives?, the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) and Obra Social “la Caixa” are organizing a multidisciplinary discussion on the benefits of urban renewal for citizens’ everyday life on Monday, 17 December, at 6:30 pm at Palau Macaya.

The debate, which will be moderated by architect and urban planner Manel Vallribera, will also be joined by Vicente Guallart, director of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia; Zaida Muxí, director of Urban Planning for Santa Coloma de Gramenet; Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, director of the Urban Planning, Environment and Health Initiative at ISGlobal; and Isabel Granell, director of the Observatory for Urban Rehabilitation And Renewal for the counties of Girona province.

The consolidation of new technologies, the gender perspective when designing cities, and the impact of building on public health will be some of the issues on the table for discussion.

Registration.

Attention: The meeting has been postponed. New date will be announced soon.

The Ministry of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia, the Architects’ Association of Catalonia, and the Urban Planning Architects’ Association of Catalonia (AAUC) have agreed to jointly organize an annual seminar entitled the Àgora d'Urbanisme (Urban Planning Forum).

This discussion forum, which will start in 2019 and is expected to be held every January, follows the lines set out by the Law on Architecture which establishes objectives to foster quality architecture and urban planning, amongst others.

The forum aspires to be a platform for independent information on the main urban planning documents processed in Catalonia. It will be a forum for information and knowledge-sharing on urban planning experiences in our region.

It also aims to provide a meeting place for technicians and managers at different levels of the urban planning sector. A place for sharing urban planning experiences and projects at a cross-cutting seminar that will take stock of what has been going on in Catalonia over the previous year.

We will shortly be posting the seminar programme on the COAC website as well as the registration form for anyone interested in taking part.
