Encuentros individuales con el corresponsal del COAC en Colombia
Se trata de una gran oportunidad para profundizar en el ejercicio de la profesión en este país, y poder resolver dudas y cuestiones. Las reuniones serán el jueves día 12 de enero entre las 10 y las 14 h.
El arquitecto Pablo Nuñez, que reside en Bogotá desde 2013, se ha dedicado al desarrollo de viviendas, tanto desde el punto de vista proyectual, donde el diseño y la sostenibilidad han sido fundamentales, como desde el punto de vista urbanístico, llegando a desarrollar dos Planes Parciales. Sus intereses lo han llevado a conocer y contactar con todo tipo de empresas constructoras y estudios de arquitectura tanto de Cataluña como de Colombia para conocer con profundidad las oportunidades de negocio para que las empresas catalanas puedan aportar valor añadido. Actualmente, con la Paz firmada y la amnistía de las FARC, es muy probable que se anime la economía y la construcción en el país.
En cuanto a las oportunidades laborales, Colombia es un país emergente, centro de operaciones de muchas multinacionales en América del Sur. La proximidad con Venezuela y su situación económica han hecho que muchas empresas y empresarios vinculados al petróleo hayan venido a instalarse en Bogotá (Pacific Rubiales), generando una demanda de viviendas de alto nivel en Bogotá y zonas de crecimiento urbano cercanas a los yacimientos petrolíferos. El gobierno Colombiano financia la compra de VIS (viviendas de interés social) y VIP (Viviendas de interés prioritario) a las personas con menos recursos. En este tipo de construcción social con iniciativa privada es donde ahora están dedicando sus mayores esfuerzos las empresas constructoras tanto colombianas como españolas.

En la convocatòoia se han inscrito un total de 50 obras construidas, así como otros trabajos realitzados en el ámbito de las competencias y el perfil propios de los arquitectos. Estos trabajos, junto con los ya registrados en las Muestras anteriores —todos finalitzados entre el 2010 y el 2015 en cualquier punto del Estado español— configuran un registro total que llega a los 940 trabajos.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park wins the Rosa Barba Landscape Prize
Hargreaves Associates led the design for the 274 acre parklands that formed the centerpiece for the London Games, recognized as the ‘Greenest Games’ in history, with the park declared the ‘winner of the Games’ by the Mayor of London.
The largest new park created in Europe for over 150 years, the design synthesizes centuries of British park tradition, the reality of post-industrial brownfields, advances in sustainability and resilience thinking to create a new type of park for the 21st Century. Focused around the restoration of the River Lea, the park includes a northern environmental park and a southern festival park that showcases the Olympic Gardens, which are themed around the countries who participate in the Games. The environmental north park converts the industrial canal into a naturalized meandering river corridor with lowland meadows and wetlands, sweeping lawns for gathering, and sculpted banks for viewing. The South Park creates gently terraced river banks and includes the themed Olympic Gardens – a rich and colorful tribute to the plants of the countries that gather for the Games.
The Transformation Plan set the framework for the park post-Games, replacing paving and temporary sporting venues with park programming including a cycle track and outdoor performance area, and additional habitat landscapes. The Transformation Plan stitches the park to the surrounding neighborhoods and creates a regenerated regional landscape for this and future generations.

The Rosa Barba International Landscape Prize is granted as part of the International Landscape Biennial of Barcelona, organised by the Architects' Association of Catalonia (COAC) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). The award, with a prize of 15,000 euros, is granted with the support of Fundació Banc Sabadell.
The Exhibition of the Rosa Barba International Landscape Prize, which shows 312 projects submitted for the Prize, will be open until October 19th. Projects are divided into four categories: Articulation, Intersection, Regeneration and Transtition.
Building in Catalonia is growing, but the sector has yet to recover
1. We are not witnessing sustained growth: the evolution of authorizations actually points to a slowdown. While between July 2014 and July 2015 there was an increase of 32% in the surface area authorized, between July 2015 and July 2016 this growth had dropped by almost half, to 15%.
2. The increase in authorized building land relates mainly to a few very large-scale projects (over 10,000 m2), representing 26% of the total.
3. The surface area authorized during the first six months of this year continues to be extremely low throughout Catalonia, and very much below the construction and building renovation levels in the rest of Europe.This therefore continues to be an unsustainable situation for the sector, which needs policies and incentives to reactivate it from an economic point of view and in order to complete its modernization process.
ANALYSIS BY REGION
The province of Barcelona stands out for its continued growth (though not including the city of Barcelona). A total of 855,854 m2 were authorized this year, 36.57% more than in the second half of 2015. However, of this total we need to bear in mind that 24.3% is for large-scale projects (over 10,000 m2). The city of Barcelona showed an increase of 20.26%, the bulk of which was for projects of between 3,000 m2 and 10,000 m2. With regard to the other provinces, there was slight growth in Girona (5.97%) and Lleida (1.26%), while Tarragona and Terres de l’Ebre showed drops of 37.8% and 32.02% respectively.
ANALYSIS BY TYPE OF BUILDING
In absolute terms, new build is continuing to show the most significant rise (22.56%), with around 1,083,329 m2 of land authorized. The surface area authorized for renovation dropped by 1.34% compared to the previous six-month period, with around 491,373 m2.ANALYSIS BY USE
The current data show an increase in both housing and non-residential use, although figures are still very low. With regard to non-residential use, there were increases in health, education and office buildings which in previous periods had slowed down.With regard to the number of homes authorized, there were a total of 4,044 in the first half of the year which represents an increase of 12% compared to the previous six-month period.
CONCLUSIONS
- The total volume of authorized surface area is still very much below the figure that would equate to the usual minimum.
- The sector is not yet experiencing a sufficiently strong structural recovery. Smaller projects of less than 3,000 m2 have only risen by 5.6%, while large-scale ones of over 10,000 m2 grew by 21.56%. Once again, the reactivation of the sector is failing to have an impact on either the majority of architects or other professionals and firms working in the sector.
- The increase in activity reflected in the amount of authorized surface area is primarily due to major projects in the province of Barcelona. In other provinces this figure has either fallen or remained stable.
- Once again, these figures underline something that the COAC has been demanding for some time: the need to implement measures of structural change to drive and steer the sector’s recovery and, as a knock-on factor, the economy.
Consequently, the Association reiterates the need for a comprehensive Strategic Plan containing MEASURES TO PROMOTE URBAN RENOVATION.
