COAC collaborates with 'La rosa di fuoco' exhibition in Ferrara

The COAC's Historical Archive collaborates with the upcoming exhibition 'La rosa di fuoco. La Barcellona di Picasso e Gaudi', which will open in Ferrara's Palazzo dei Diamanti (Italy) on April the 19th.
The exhibition features nearly 130 works, including paintings by Catalan artists Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol, Joaquim Mir and Isidre Nonell, as well as sculptures, drawings, photographs, decorative artworks and jewels.
The Rose of Fire, or rather La Rosa de Foc in Catalan, was the code name used by twentieth-century anarchists to refer to Barcelona. This name evokes the political, social and cultural turmoil that ignited Barcelona at the turn of the century.
Our Historical Archive has lent out a few items for this exhibition. The transferred pieces include a lithograph, which is a copy of Barcelona's original plan by Cerda, and eleven photographs which were part of the 1927 exhibition tribute to Gaudi, held in Barcelona one year after his death. Most of the photographs are copies that were commissioned to Adolf Mas for the 1910 exhibition held in Paris. The other ones were new commissions.
Maria Luisa Pacelli, director of Palazzo dei Diamanti, explains that bringing architecture into an exhibition room was the biggest challenge the exhibition involved. "We did not want to repeat the installation of previous exhibitions on Catalan Modernism seen in Italy, which showed objects by Gaudi and Domenech i Montaner. So we decided to focus on Gaudi only, through period photographs by Adolf Mas, kept in the COAC's historical archive".

Lecture by Peter Wilson

The next TribunaCOAC will be held on January 30th with the participation of architect Peter Wilson (Bolles + Wilson). The conference will be given at the COAC auditorium and Wilson will discuss urban renovation in Europe.
Peter Wilson, born in Melbourne, has been a professor at London's Architectural Association, Berlin's Kunsthochschule Weissensee and Mendrisio's Accademia di Architettura. Since 1989 he has been working with Julia Bolles in several works all around the world, with their firm Bolles + Wilson based in Münster. Some of their projects have been selected for the Mies van der Rohe Award, such as Münster's Library and the Luxor Theatre in Rotterdam. They are currently working on the Monteluce urban renewal in Perugia (Italy), which they were commissioned after an international competition in 2006 and has been awarded the 2013 AIA Gold Medal.
This year, Peter Wilson, together with architects Cino Zucchi, Margarita Jover, Lene Tranberg, Li Xiangning, journalist Tony Chapman and MPreis CEO Hansjörg Mölk, is part of the Jury for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2015.

Por motivos ajenos a la organización, el Tribuna COAC con el arquitecto Peter Wilson (Bolles + Wilson) previsto para el jueves 29 de enero se ha aplazado para el viernes 30 de enero a las 19 h. La conferencia tendrá lugar en la sala de actos de plaça Nova y Wilson hablará* sobre renovación urbana en Europa.
Peter Wilson, nacido en Melbourne, ha sido profesor de la Architectural Association de Londres, la Kunsthochschule Weissensee de Berlín y la Accademia di Architettura de Mendrisio. Desde 1989 ha colaborado con Julia Bolles en diversas obras de escalas diferentes con su estudio de arquitectura Bolles + Wilson. Algunos de sus proyectos han sido seleccionados para el Premio Mies van der Rohe, como la biblioteca de Münster y el Luxor Theatre de Rotterdam. Actualmente están realizando el proyecto de reordenación urbana Monteluce de Perugia, que ganaron en un concurso internacional en el 2006 y que ha sido galardonado con la AIA Gold Medal.
Este año Peter Wilson, juntamente con los arquitectos Cino Zucchi, Margarita Jover, Lene Tranberg, Li Xiangning, el periodista Tony Chapman y el CEO de MPreis, Hansjörg Mölk, forma parte del Jurado del Premio de Arquitectura Contemporánea de la Unión Europea – Premio Mies van der Rohe 2015, que ha seleccionado un total de 420 propuestas de arquitectura construidas entre 2013 y 2014.
