Exhibition: 'COAC.16 Collections / The Universal Exposition of 1888'
130 years ago, the city of Barcelona, which had thrown down its walls and expanded across the plain thanks to the adoption of Ildefons Cerdà’s urban plan, was ready to take another step forward with the organisation of the Universal Exposition of 1888.
Through the Exposition, Barcelona showcased its dynamism, the drive of its middle classes, supported by a powerful industrial sector, and the ability to generate forward-looking projects for large tracts of society at that time.
In the sphere of architecture, it is worth highlighting the generalised use of iron—which previously had been used in the construction of bridges, railway stations and markets—and the as-yet early emergence of the Catalan Art Nouveau style (classified as proto-Modernisme) that could be perceived in some buildings.
The Universal Exposition of 1888 was the first project to generate changes at many levels of the city, and was followed by similar impacts from the International Exposition of 1929 and the organisation of the Olympic Games in 1992.
The plans on display are from the collection of Elias Rogent Amat, the architect who directed work at the Universal Exposition, and were donated by his family to the COAC’s Historical Archive in 1969. The exhibition also features documents from the photography collections of the COAC’s Historical Archive.
To properly conserve the documents, they have been copied and reproduced as facsimiles so that now, 130 years later, they can be viewed without any risk of damage.

Postgrau en Rehabilitació (12a edició)
Aquest programa capacita l'arquitecte per dur a terme les obres de reforma o rehabilitació d'un edifici. Els alumnes aprendran a detectar i diagnosticar les lesions d'un edifici, conèixer les formes d'intervenció i reparació més habituals en els diferents sistemes constructius i gestionar i controlar el projecte de rehabilitació.
El Postgrau consta d'un total de 158 hores lectives i es realitzarà de forma presencial amb retransmissió en directe a través de la Videoaula.
El temari s'estructura en els següents mòduls:
- M1. Inspecció i diagnosi d'edificis
- M2. Rehabilitació d'estructures i fonaments
- M3. Rehabilitació de façanes i cobertes
- M4. Rehabilitació d'instal·lacions
- M5. Introducció a la gestió integral en rehabilitació sostenible
Per tal veure de primera mà una rehabilitació i posar en pràctica els coneixements adquirits, es realitzaran tres visites d'obra durant el postgrau. Els alumnes estaran en contacte amb professionals exercents del camp de la Rehabilitació per veure casos reals i aplicar la metodologia learnign by doing.

La Escola Sert, accesible para los arquitectos asturianos
La decana del Colegio de Arquitectos de Cataluña, Assumpció Puig, y la decana del Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Asturias (COAA), Sonia Puente, firmaron un acuerdo de colaboración que permitirá que el COAA incorpore a su oferta de formación los cursos y actividades formativas organizadas por la Escola Sert, tanto en la modalidad de vídeoaula como online.
Esta colaboración se suma a las ya impulsadas con otros colegios de arquitectos, como el Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de las Islas Baleares (COAIB) y el Colegio de Arquitectos de la Comunidad Valenciana (COACV), con el objetivo de ofrecer una oferta formativa amplia y de calidad, que contemple la diversificación de perfiles.
El valor de la Escola Sert, reconocido en el Estado
Con la firma de este convenio, se pone de manifiesto el reconocimiento a la calidad y el valor añadido de los cursos y actividades que realiza la Escola Sert. En este sentido, el centro de formación continua del COAC se ha consolidado como un polo de conocimiento en el sector, desde el que se catalizan procesos de desarrollo profesional continuo, sostenido en dos pilares fundamentales: la práctica profesional y la formación de especialización.

Amb la signatura d’aquest conveni, es posa de manifest el reconeixement a la qualitat i el valor afegit dels cursos i activitats que realitza l’Escola Sert. En aquest sentit, el centre de formació contínua del COAC s'ha consolidat com un pol de coneixement en el sector, des del qual es catalitzen processos de desenvolupament professional continu, sostingut en dos pilars fonamentals: la pràctica professional i la formació d’especialització.
