COAC Grants for Local and International Cooperation 2015
With the aim of enhancing the social commitment of architecture, COAC announces the 4th edition of the COAC grants for local and international development projects related to architecture and urban planning. These awards reflect the COAC's commitment to devote 0.7% of its yearly budget to cooperation.
Associations, charities, foundations and other nonprofit organizations working in the field of development cooperation and having architects among their collaborators are eligible for the COAC grants.
This call includes two main areas of funding: international development cooperation and local development cooperation.
There are five types of grants in both areas:
a) Construction or restoration of housing buildings
b) Construction or restoration of community facilities
c) Construction or restoration of infrastructures
d) Construction or restoration of public spaces
e) Urban planning
The applicant, who must be a COAC member, should fill the application form and submit it, together with the required documents, before April 17th, 2015 at 1pm.
All the applications will be evaluated by the COAC Board, which will announce the results by June 2015.

The COAC Historical Archive contributes to the 'Flashback' exhibition
The new exhibition "Flashback" opens in La Pedrera on March the 11th. "Flashback", which is a retrospective of the work of publicist, photographer, poet and gourmet Leopoldo Pomés, will be open until July the 12th.
The exhibition features over a hundred works including photographs, videos, newspaper clippings, drawings, etc. These works frame an overview of Leopoldo Pomés' career, from his beginnings as an amateur photographer, through the creation of Studi Pomés in 1961, up until his most recent projects.
The COAC Historical Archive has contributed to this exhibition by lending two drawings by architects Correa-Milà on the design of 'Il Giardinetto', as well as a drawing and a photograph of restaurant 'Flash-Flash', by the same architects.

Olga Felip guanya el Premi Arts i Lletres de la Fundació Princesa de Girona
El jurat ha destacat la seva trajectòria arquitectònica per "haver sabut combinar la creació de noves formes amb el respecte a l'entorn, així com la seva feina sòbria, elegant, càlida i lluminosa, que aconsegueix un efecte harmònic en l'usuari, l'espectador i el paisatge".
L'arquitecta gironina va estudiar arquitectura a l'Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona (UPC) i va participar en programes d'intercanvi internacional a ESALA Edimburg, ENSA Belleville París, UCLA, AA Londres i UIAV Venècia.
Des del 2006 treballa amb el seu soci Josep Camps a l’estudi josepcamps | olgafelip. Algunes de les seves obres més destacades són la Plaça de l'Absis de la Catedral de Tortosa i el Centre Cívic Mercat de Ferreries –totes dues seleccionades als Premis FAD 2011–, el CAP l'Aldea i el Museu de l'Energia d'Ascó. A més, Olga Felip ha estat professora de l'AA School of London i del BIArch Barcelona Institute of Architecture.
El Premi Fundació Princesa de Girona Arts i Lletres 2015 se suma a una llarga llista de guardons per a Olga Felip, com el premi Young Architect of the Year 2010 en els LEAF Awards, 40under40 per The European Centre of Architecture, Design Vanguard 2011 per Architectural Record i AJ Emerging Woman of the Year per Architects Journal. L'any 2012 va ser escollida per representar Catalunya en la Biennal d'Arquitectura de Venècia i el 2014 va rebre el premi AJAC, que atorga l'Agrupació de Joves Arquitectes de Catalunya, pel projecte "Quatre rius i una sèquia".
Nova catalogació a la base de dades "Arxitectura": Salvador Soteras Taberner
L'Arxiu Històric del COAC ha realitzat la descripció del fons documental de l’arquitecte Salvador Soteras Taberner (1874-1925), donat al Col·legi d'Arquitectes per l'exdegà del COAC Joan Baptista Mur Soteras.
Concretament, s’han incorporat a la base de dades “Arxitectura" un total de 77 registres de documentació que van del 1891 fins el 1921. Properament, es publicarà a la llista de fons professionals del web de l'Arxiu Històric.
L'obra de Soteras Taberner
Salvador Soteras Taberner va néixer a Madrid l’any 1874. Va desenvolupar una extensa carrera com a arquitecte des que va obtenir el títol el 1899 a l'Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona.
De la seva producció professional cal destacar, entre d’altres, el desaparegut edifici del Círculo Ecuestre, que estava situat al Passeig de Gràcia de Barcelona, o el pont de Mora sobre l’Ebre. L’arquitecte va morir a Barcelona l’any 1925.
