Audiencia con el presidente de la Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont
El pasado miércoles 13 de abril tuvo lugar en el Palau de la Generalitat un encuentro entre el presidente de la Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, el decano del Colegio de Arquitectos, Lluís Comerón, y la secretaria de la Junta de Gobierno, Assumpció Puig.
En esta primera reunión de la legislatura se quiso transmitir al presidente la situación del colectivo de arquitectos, el impacto de la crisis inmobiliaria y los retos de presente y futuro que estamos afrontando, que suponen tanto la ampliación de nuestros roles profesionales como la redefinición del papel que hemos de tener dentro de la sociedad.
En el transcurso de la entrevista también se planteó la incidencia que el marco legislativo y la acción de Gobierno han de tener para contribuir a la recuperación del sector.
En este sentido, el encuentro sirvió también para compartir con el presidente los principales valores de la futura Ley de Arquitectura catalana, que ya ha iniciado su tramitación en el Parlamento catalán. El presidente coincidió en la importancia de tener un marco normativo que reconozca el valor de la arquitectura y su papel en la sociedad, así como el trabajo de los arquitectos y las condiciones en que lo desarrollan.

El passat dimecres 13 d’abril va tenir lloc al Palau de la Generalitat una trobada entre el president, Carles Puigdemont, el degà del Col·legi d’Arquitectes, Lluís Comeron, i la secretària de la Junta de Govern, Assumpció Puig.
En aquesta primera reunió de l’actual legislatura es va voler transmetre al president la situació del col·lectiu d’arquitectes, l’impacte de la crisi immobiliària i els reptes de present i futur que estem afrontant, que suposen tant l’ampliació dels nostres rols professionals com la redefinició del paper que hem de tenir dins la societat.
En el transcurs de l’entrevista també es va plantejar la incidència que el marc legislatiu i l’acció de Govern han de tenir per contribuir a la recuperació del sector.
En aquest sentit, la trobada va servir també per compartir amb el president els principals valors que té la futura Llei d’Arquitectura de Catalunya, que ja ha iniciat la seva tramitació al Parlament. El president va coincidir en la importància de tenir un marc normatiu que reconegui el valor de l’arquitectura i el seu paper dins la societat, així com el treball dels arquitectes i les condicions en les quals el desenvolupen.
New call for COAC grants for local and international cooperation
Those eligible to apply for grants within the scope of this call include associations, NGOs, foundations and other non-profit bodies working in the field of cooperation with international and/or local development which have architects among their collaborators, whether salaried, volunteers or with a professional service contract. This call covers two main areas for grants: International Development Cooperation and Local Development Cooperation.
Within each of these two areas, there are five types of grant:
a) Building or renovation of housing
b) Building or renovation of community facilities
c) Building or renovation of infrastructures
d) Building or renovation of public spaces
e) Urban planning
Applicants, who must be members of the COAC, can send an email to coac@coac.cat requesting the necessary documents, which need to be submitted to any COAC branch or delegation before 1 pm on 17 May 2016.

The COAC Archive and Library are collaborating in the exhibition ‘Barcelona. The Metropolis in the Age of Photography, 1860-2004’
The Historical Archive and the Library of the COAC are collaborating in the exhibition ‘Barcelona. The Metropolis in the Age of Photography, 1860-2004’, which can be visited at La Virreina until 26 June 2016. The COAC has lent for this exhibition a total of 69 documents, including photos and journals.
The exhibition, curated by Jorge Ribalta, explores photographic imagery of the city's urban development over a century and a half of history. It follows the connection between the city’s urban transformation, marked by the celebration of major events, from the 1888 Universal Exhibition through to the 2004 Forum of Cultures, and the historical role of photography in shaping the perception and public opinion of the city, from the emergence of multiple photographic techniques during the 1850s, up to the massive explosion of digital technologies, the Internet, mobile phones and social networks at the transition between the 20th and 21st centuries.
