“Arquitectura social i ciutat”, la transformació urbana per a la millora dels eixos cívics

Més espai per als vianants, més tranquil·litat per als veïns i comerciants, avingudes amables per passejar, zones més segures, confortables i sostenibles... Així és com s’ha dissenyat el futur d’eixos principals de la ciutat de Barcelona com són la Via Laietana, Les Rambles, el Paral·lel o el Front Marítim.

Això no obstant, malgrat el pas dels anys, els projectes no avancen o estan aturats, i continuen sent zones amb molta presència de trànsit rodat i conseqüent contaminació, espai insuficient per a les relacions humanes o per passejar, poca accessibilitat...
Conscients que cal que els processos de remodelació i millora de la ciutat avancin, el Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya ha organitzat la jornada “Arquitectura social i ciutat. Paral·lel, Les Rambles, Via Laietana i Moll de la Fusta”, en què es posarà en el centre del debat la necessitat del compromís de tot el plenari de l'Ajuntament amb la realització dels treballs en els quals la ciutadania i la professió han arribat a acords a través del debat i la participació.
La jornada, que tindrà lloc el dilluns 8 d’abril a les 18.30 h, vol ser l'inici d'una sèrie de trobades en què la ciutadania i l'administració puguin debatre cadascun dels casos, així com un espai de mediació i vincle entre tots els agents protagonistes de la transformació urbana de la nostra ciutat.
Programa:
18.30 h Presentació i marc general a càrrec de Sandra Bestraten, presidenta de la Demarcació de Barcelona.
18.40 h Explicació dels eixos des del punt de vista social, a càrrec d’Itzíar González, arquitecta especialitzada en rehabilitació i patrimoni arquitectònic, experta en processos de resolució de conflictes a l’espai públic i cooperació ciutadana en el territori.
19.00 h Explicació dels projectes de remodelació dels eixos, a càrrec dels arquitectes autors: Lola Domènech i Olga Tarrasó, del projecte de Les Rambles; Jaume Artigues, de la Via Laietana; Montserrat Periel, del Paral·lel; i Eva Serrats, del Moll de la Fusta.

Exposició: "Lina Bo Bardi a Bahia"

ALLARGUEM L'EXPOSICIÓ UNS DIES MÉS!
El 9 d'abril a les 19 h el COAC inaugura l’exposició "Lina Bo Bardi a Bahia", concebuda i comissariada per l'arquitecta Carla Zollinger.
Recupereu la conferència de Xavier Monteys durant la inauguració de l'exposició:
L'exposició mostra un dels períodes més creatius i alhora menys coneguts de l’arquitecta italobrasilera Lina Bo Bardi, l’experiència del qual fou fonamental en obres com el MASP i el SESC Pompeia, segons paraules d’ella mateixa.
“Important a la meva vida va ser el meu viatge al nord-est [del Brasil]. Aquí, vaig veure la llibertat. La no importància de la bellesa, de la proporció […] però la [importància] d'un altre sentit profund, que vaig aprendre amb l'arquitectura, sobretot aquella dels forts, o primitius, populars”
Es mostren doncs obres de Lina Bo Bardi realitzades a Bahia entre 1958 i 1964, quan fou directora del Museu d’Art Modern de Bahia, i entre 1986 i 1990, quan va realitzar el Projecte Pilot per al Centre Històric de Salvador de Bahia.
A l'acte inaugural comptarem amb una xerrada a càrrec de l'arquitecte Xavier Monteys i de la historiadora de l’art Maria Iñigo Clavo.

Exhibition: 'Letters to the Mayor'

On 28 March, the exhibition 'Letters to the Mayor' opens at the Association’s headquarters in Plaça Nova, representing a kaleidoscope of Barcelona in the form of 70 letters from architects and professionals in other disciplines associated with the creation of value for the city.
To prepare the project—curated by Ricardo Devesa, Xavier González and Núria Moliner—architects and other professionals were asked to write a letter, on paper, to the Mayor of Barcelona, expressing their feelings, concerns and interests in relation to the city.
The exhibition will run until 5 May and features the letters presented in a multi-sensory space where they can be read in different formats. There will also be a post-box available for visitors to send their own letters to the Mayor.
This project was originally the idea of Storefront for Art & Architecture in New York, curated by Eva Franch, and has since taken place in other cities such as Athens, Buenos Aires, New York and São Paulo.

The Architects’ Association of Catalonia has been honoured with one of the National Culture Awards for 2019 given by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA).
This distinction has been granted 'for [the COAC’s] contribution to the construction of a modern country through architecture and urban planning, from its different regional branches, and for its promotion of this heritage across Catalonia. The particular attention that the COAC has devoted in recent years to its Archive has led to significant donations from most of the country’s architects and urban planners. The diligent custody and dissemination of this technical, urban planning and photographic material has made the COAC’s Historical Archive an essential source of documentation for both national and international architects and historians, which further enhances the prestige of Catalan architecture'.
More than 145 years at the service of architectural culture
The dean of the COAC, Assumpció Puig, highlighted the fact that 'this award recognises the role of architecture in society, especially its cultural dimension, which is often overlooked', and emphasised that 'this award belongs to all our members, thanks to whose support and collaboration we have managed to roll out an intensive cultural programme in the Association’s eleven branches across Catalonia'.
In its more than 145 years of history, the Association has established itself as an institution at the service of architectural culture, placing among its objectives the recovery and dissemination of architects’ legacy, giving a voice to more contemporary forms of architecture, and forging close bonds with other disciplines.
The cultural prestige of the Association is rooted not only in its Historical Archive, Library, Publications Service and awards, but also in its conferences, debates, training activities, exhibitions and numerous collaborations that have taken place over the years.
The Historical Archive, which this year celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, is a European point of reference for architectural studies, with more than two million documents in which the history of our country is recorded. The Library is the second largest in Europe in terms of the number of volumes on architecture, with more than 180,000 references. When it comes to publications, the Association has been behind more than 400 titles, most notably the journal Quaderns d'arquitectura i urbanisme, which has been published since 1944.

Other recipients of the awards, which will be presented on 4 July at the Artesà Theatre in El Prat de Llobregat, include Maria Bohigas, Jaume Cabré, Federació d'Ateneus de Catalunya, Litterarum Móra d'Ebre, the Museum of Lleida, Josefina Matamoros, Clara Peya, Josep Ponsatí and Carme Ruscalleda.
The National Culture Awards, which have been awarded by the CoNCA since 2009, are the most important distinction in the field of culture in Catalonia. These awards celebrate creativity as a true symbol of a country with a cultural dynamism that sees culture as a constituent part of its personality and historical identity.
