Historical Archive

The Historical Archive of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia is one of the most important document repositories of its kind in Europe and houses the professional collections of almost 100 architects whose work is essential to understanding the history of architecture in our country. The collection of documents held by the Association forms a comprehensive map which represents the contributions made by Masters of Works in the  time of the Renaissance through to present-day architecture. Since 1969, the Archive has been responsible for recovering the documentary heritage generated by architects and the world of architecture. It now houses around 1,850,000 archives—including plans, maps, sketches, drawings, publications, photos, correspondence and video and audio archives. It is a point of reference for academics and architects around the world and represents an invaluable asset for the members of the Association. The Archive is at the service both of architects in their professional activities (investigations, research on architectural heritage, public dissemination of all kinds such as books, exhibitions, etc.) and members of the general public who might be interested in the professional and social work of architects from ancient times through to the present day.
