Barcelona se postula como Ciudad Mundial de la Arquitectura
Barcelona aspira a convertirse en Ciudad Mundial de la Arquitectura, según la declaración institucional que aprovó el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona el pasado viernes 25 de enero. La inciativa, que se aprovo por unanimidad, contará con la colaboración del COAC.
Barcelona quiere y puede jugar un papel en el debate y diseño de las políticas urbanas y arquitectónicas del presento y el futuro de las ciudades del mundo. Con este objetivo, la capital catalana se postula para ser Ciudad Mundial de la Arquitectura, un título iniciativa de la UNESCO y la Unión Internacional de Arquitectos (UIA) para el que el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona apuesta con el objetivo, también, de valorar la tarea de instituciones y profesionales, que han convertido la ciudad en un referente por su arquitectura y calidad urbana.
La arquitectura, decisiva en la vida de las personas
En la misma declaración institucional, Barcelona reconoce la incidencia de la arquitectura en la calidad de vida de las personas. Por eso, pone en valor la importancia que tienen la planificación urbana, la arquitectura y el patrimonio para el desarrrollo social y económico de las ciudades de hoy. Así mismo, el texto pone de manifiesto el valor de la arquitectura como factor de calidad de vida y la importancia de un entorno urbano favorable en el que poder desarrollar un proyecto vital.
La Bolsa de Trabajo cierra el 2018 con cerca de 3.500 ofertas de trabajo publicadas
La Bolsa de Trabajo ha cerrado el 2018 con una cifra récord de ofertas de trabajo publicadas con un total de 3.499. Además, 666 arquitectos han encontrado trabajo desde principios de año gracias a la Bolsa de Trabajo del COAC.
Las funcionalidades de la nueva plataforma de búsqeuda estrenada el mes de marzo pasado han permitido aumentar la cifra de ofertas publicadas en 12 mesos, que el 2017 fue de 1.370, sobretodo gracias a la posibilidad de incorporar las ofertas del SOC o de Infojobs. De entre todas las ofertas que se han publicado, un 62% provienen de particulares que buscan arquitectos, un 30% de empresas y la Administración Pública se queda con el 8% restante.
El 2018 también finalizó con la Bolsa de Trabajo siendo uno de los servicios del COAC más prioritarios para los colegiados, como demuestran los datos, que afirman que el 48,1% de los usuarios del servicio son nuevos colegiados. Desde el estreno de la nueva plataforma, se han inscrito en ella 1.413 arquitectos y 344 nuevas empresas han empezado a publicar ofertas.
La BT, una herramienta intuitiva, dinámica y fácil
La plataforma celebrará que hace un año que se encuentra en funcionamiento la próxima primavera. Se diseñó para ser una herramienta ágil, cómoda, intuitiva y dinámica que facilita al máximo el contacto con las organizaciones, las empresas y los particulars que buscan arquitectos. Además, presenta nuevas funcionalidades para hacer lucir los perfiles profesionales de los arquitectos como recursos visuales y gráficos, así como ventajas para que los candidatos puedan personalizar los criterios de búsqueda.
The Association submits proposals to the MPGM and the PEUI regarding the Sagrada Familia site
The text of these proposals was drawn up in conjunction with members of AAUC (Urban Planning Architects’ Association of Catalonia) and AADIPA (Association of Architects for the Defence and Intervention in Architectural Heritage).
Content of the proposals
The modification of the PGM is motivated by the need to adjust qualification limits to make it viable to execute the overall Temple project, but, in the opinion of the COAC, this is confined to a very specific and insufficient area, given that it does not resolve the continuation of the Temple into Carrer Mallorca, where the intention is to erect the Glory Façade and the main entrance stairway. It is therefore missing the opportunity to reach a definitive solution for the Temple in this part of the city.
The extensive area affected, running from Carrer Mallorca to Carrer Aragó and involving more than 50% of two city blocks in the Eixample, has spent over 40 years in a state of transition that affects the lives of the people of Barcelona. The Association believes that the modification of the PGM and the PEUI must tackle and resolve this transitional status.
Proposal for debate
The complexity of the issues raised and the legal, technical and economic implications require a wide-ranging debate that guarantees the participation of every stakeholder involved. It is equally necessary to open this debate up to the local population with regard to both the monumental complex itself and its repercussions in terms of civic harmony, housing, economic activity and the city’s international image.
Therefore, the Association requests that a new, open and wide-ranging participative process is initiated that includes debate to arrive at the most appropriate urban solution for the monumental complex of the Sagrada Família and, specifically, solves the existing transitional status of zone 17-6 between the streets of Mallorca and Aragó.

The COAC starts rolling out Architecture lessons in schools
The aim of the Magnet programme—promoted by the Jaume Bofill Foundation together with the Catalan Ministry of Education, Barcelona Provincial Council, the Institute of Education Sciences and the Education Consortium—is to support schools in the development of an innovative, quality-based project designed to become a flagship in the region for both families and the educational community.
This is achieved by partnering with a leading institution in a specific field of knowledge that will advise the school during the three-year period for which the project runs.
Leading institution for architecture
The COAC forms part of the Magnet programme by putting into practice its educational programme known as Arqui-escola.
The COAC works directly with the schools involved to develop an educational project related to architecture, proposing different dynamics and workshops such as rethinking the use of spaces in the centre, undertaking an urban planning analysis of the surroundings, preparing a sustainability audit, etc.
To date, the COAC has started collaborating with the Camps Elisis Primary School (Lleida), the Marià Fortuny Primary School (Reus) and the Pere Barnils Secondary School (Centelles).
