GUIM COSTA CALSAMIGLIA, NEW DEAN OF THE COAC
Guim Costa Calsamiglia has been appointed as the new dean of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia for the 2022-2026 term, after winning the elections held on 16 and 17 May.Costa received the largest number of votes, with a total of 877, ahead of Manuel Ruisánchez Capelástegui (872) and Carla Habif Hassid Bozzo (165). A total of 117 blank ballots were also recorded.

COAC RENOVATES SIX OF ITS BRANCH OFFICES AS PART OF THE...
All the renovation work carried out as part of the Heritage Plan to transform six of the COAC’s eleven regional office buildings around Catalonia is expected to be completed during the course of 2022.

ARCHITECTURE, A SUBJECT ON THE SYLLABUS OF MAGNET SCHOOLS...
In March, the time of pre-enrolment for primary and secondary schools, the schools with which the COAC works to introduce architecture into the classroom made a point of highlighting this important and differentiating factor on their syllabuses.

ON 8 MARCH WE SHOWCASED THE EXCELLENCE OF FEMALE ARCHITECTS
The number of female architects has grown exponentially over the last few decades, but it is still a long way from reaching parity with men: at present, just 32% of all COAC members are women, some ways below the European average of 39%. The number of new memberships show that women are carving out a bigger and bigger niche in architecture, historically a profession dominated by men.

The COAC receives the National Culture Award
On Thursday 4 July, the Architects’ Association of Catalonia was presented with the National Culture Award, given by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA). The gala event was held in Teatre l’Artesà in El Prat de Llobregat.

Winners of the National Culture Award for 2019!
The Architects’ Association of Catalonia has been honoured with one of the National Culture Awards for 2019 given by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA).

The COAC starts rolling out Architecture lessons in schools
The Architects’ Association has started pilot tests to spread the teaching of architecture in schools through the programme entitled ‘Magnet: alliances for educational success’.
