The Barcelona Real Estate Development and Construction Technical Committee has been set up to analyse and consider the situation of the property development and construction sector as well as proposing actions to improve the quality and professionalism of the products and agents involved. In 2017, the area of authorised building projects in Catalonia grew by 9%, representing a slowdown in the growth experienced in the last two years. The drop of 17% in the largest projects was offset by a very positive increase in small and medium-sized ones. The regions of Barcelona and Girona showed the most consistent growth, which, however, is still not being reflected in the other regions. The Dean of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC), Lluís Comerón, was appointed on Thursday, 16 November, as the new president of the Higher Council of Architects’ Associations of Spain (CSCAE). The dean takes over for Jordi Ludevid Anglada, who was dean of the COAC between 2006 and 2010. Lluís Comerón will assume his new position in January 2018 with a four-year mandate.
